Woodland Elf: Free Girl Mod

Did you see my Woodland Elf crochet pattern from last year? It's one of my favorites with his puffy sleeves and whimsical hat with moss and mushrooms all over it. This year I decided he needed a companion... so I wrote up a mod for a GIRL elf crochet pattern and am offering it for FREE right here on the blog!

For this pattern mod, you will need to purchase the original Woodland Elf Pattern in my Etsy shop.

About this pattern

This lady Woodland Elf has the same chubby body and the puffy sleeves, but she is sporting a skirt with leggings instead of pants. Her hat features an optional band and a tiny crocheted sunflower for decoration (which you can find as a FREE pattern here on the blog!). And the cutest part... she has HAIR with bangs and braids attached inside the hat!

For this particular lady elf, I chose bright colors to show how this pattern is versatile for your own color and theme choices. You could use this pattern to make a different woodland elf for every season or holiday!

I also decided to not do the underside of the hat for this particular one. That choice, of course, is totally up to you.

The pattern for the Girl Mod

Special stitches: This pattern uses the twisted SC st for the hair. HERE is a video explaining how to do it.

Are you ready to make one?

Naturally, when I designed my Plush Scarecrow crochet pattern, it was only fitting that it had a tiny sunflower applique on its whimsical hat. Although it is included in that pattern, I am also offering this tiny sunflower crochet pattern for FREE here on the blog!

Plush Scarecrow Crochet Pattern

Introducing my latest pattern: the Plush Scarecrow Crochet Pattern! I'm so excited about this little guy! If you have followed me on social media for awhile, you may remember that last September I introduced my first scarecrow pattern, which was a Scarecrow Shelf Sitter Crochet Pattern.

crocheted scarecrow pattern made with Premier Parfait Chunky yarns

That was my favorite pattern I have written! This year I have been building up my confidence using plush yarns and finding the right ones that I could comfortably work with. My next goal was to make a similar version of that scarecrow pattern specifically for plush yarns. And now that goal is complete!!

While I did write this pattern specifically for plush yarns, you can use any type of yarn for it. Here are acrylic scarecrows made with the new and last year's patterns for comparison.

Both of these scarecrows are made using acrylic/worsted weight yarn.

About the pattern

For this plush version, I wanted more of a doll with shorter arms and legs and a smaller head. The body would be more of a plushie. Similar to the shelf sitter, this scarecrow is also wearing overalls and a whimsical hat.

AND... the new plush scarecrow crochet pattern also includes a GIRL MOD!! How cute are her overalls dress and braids???

BOTH scarecrow patterns are NO SEW!!!! I love that about amigurumi dolls. While I am gaining a little more confidence in my sewing skills, I still prefer when the body is constructed without sewing. Also included in the pattern are clear, color photos and a link to a helpful YouTube playlist.

So which one are you going to make first?? I hope whichever one you choose, you will tag me on social media so that I can see your creation!!

If you are a crocheter of amigurumi, you have probably heard of these sticks. If you haven't, Amigurumi sticks, sometimes called sewing...
